SUMMARY:Ages and Stages Hosted by: MOMS Club of Ridgecrest
DESCRIPTION:This talk will focus on the social and emotional developments from birth to middle childhood. Some of the topics we will explore are the development of emotions\, temperament\, attachment\, peer relationships\, etc.\, and some interesting theories centered around infants' and children's social and emotional development. We will focus on these developments within three developmental periods: infancy (birth-2 years)\, early childhood (3-5 years)\, and middle childhood (6-11 years). MOMS Club of Ridgecrest presents our own member\, Elizabeth Essel\, PhD. She earned her doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University. During her time at graduate school and in a two year post-doctoral position at Penn State after completing my degree\, her main study of focus explored the effects of maltreatment\, parenting contexts\, and children's individual differences (i.e.\, temperament\, physiological reactivity) on preschool children's regulation of emotions and behavior. Today\, she is an online professor and teach courses in Penn State's Human Development and Family Studies program and Walden University's Developmental Psychology Graduate Program.
