Nicholas Clapp gave a \n\npresentation to the Society in October 2013 on the lost city of Ophir \n\nin the local El Paso Mountains. We'll follow his information to the \n\nsite\, starting cross-country on BLM open routes and visit some local \n\nhomesteads and other historical sites on the way to the location of \n\nOphir. Weather can be changeable\, so watch the weather reports and \n\nplan accordingly. Bring water\, lunch\, walking or hiking shoes\, \n\nlayered clothing\, camera and a hat. Four-wheel drive shouldn't be \n\nrequired\, but some clearance and sturdy tires will help. The roads \n\nare in pretty good shape\, but there are some rocks and soft sand. \n\nThis will be a leisurely trip and total mileage should be no more \n\nthan 30-40 miles.
