DESCRIPTION:HSUMD TO HOLD GENERAL MEETING ON TUES. JAN. 20.\n\n \n\nThe Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert will hold its first General Meeting of the New Year\, Tuesday evening\, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Historic USO Building\, 230 W. Ridgecrest Blvd. The meeting will feature the return appearance of Mark Pahuta and Leroy Doig\, presenting their series of videos on the history of China Lake. Mark and Leroy will be screening " A Station\, Having for its Purpose" \, the first episode of the video series "Pictures of Us\," conceived by China Lake management to introduce the history of the Naval Air Warfare Center to young engineers. The videos\, composed of archival films of China Lake\, feature introductions scripted by Doig and filmed by Pahuta\, both involved with the history of the base for many years. This first episode\, to be presented at the meeting\, covers the early history of the base at China Lake. The Society meets on the third Tuesday of the month\, and the general public is invited to attend these free events. For more information on this or future meetings\, call the HSUMD at 760-375-8456.
