SUMMARY:Outlaws\, Lawmen and Patriots of the Cherokee Nation and Indian Territory Class
DESCRIPTION:Cherokee Community of Central California will present a history class from 1-3pm at DART office 201 E . Ridgecrest Boulervard. If anyone has any questions they call Riley Rose at 661-859-4322\n\n \nPresentation is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Cherokee Community of Central California.\n\n\n\nPrior to Oklahoma Statehood in 1907\, Indian Territory was often referred to as an "outlaw's paradise" because of rampant crime\, often committed by non-Indian intruders. Indian lawmen were some of the bravest of the Old West and often served as both tribal and federal officers. This presentation will cover infamous Cherokee outlaws and the courageous lawmen that brought them to justice\, as well as discuss individuals who history has often portrayed as outlaws.
