DESCRIPTION:Special presentation by Vice Adm Ashworth's son\, Capt. Dave Ashworth\, USN (Ret) The name Ashworth is famous in this area as one of China Lake's most effective commanders\, as well as the man who served as the weaponeer for the Nagasaki bomb drop. Dick Ashworth's son\, Capt. Dave Ashworth\, USN (Ret.)\, has maintained ties over the years with classmates at Burroughs High School. He will talk about his father\, who was the NOTS Commander from April 1955 through September 1957\, often termed the "Golden Years\," a highly productive era that saw the fleet introduction of Sidewinder\, as well as the creation of an array of conventional bombs\, missiles\, and "smart" weapons. Dave will travel here from his home in Utah\, and bring his friend and colleague\, Col. Steve Hall\, USAF (Ret.)\,who will focus on the two atomic detonations over Nagasaki\, Japan on August. 6 and 9\, 1945. to speak at both the HSUMD monthly General Meeting to be held on Wednesday\, November 15 at 7 p.m.\, and at the monthly Veterans' Breakfast on Thursday\, November 16 from 8 to 10 a.m. The General Meeting is free and open to the public\, and the Vet's Breakfast is free to veterans and their spouses.
