DESCRIPTION:The February meeting of Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert to be held on Tuesday\, at the Historic USO Building will feature a fascinating presentation on the history of the Indian Wells Valley. The meeting will highlight longtime board member Andrew Sound's upcoming participation in the first of two symposia to be held on Saturday\, Feb. 20 and Saturday\, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Bakersfield\, celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Kern County. Tuesday evening's program will cover the history of our valley from early times to the advent of the Navy's presence and later developments.
