ALVA Award Program
The program, which further reflects the credit union’s mission of community growth and involvement, is fairly simple in its function. The program allocates a $1,000 grant for purchase of art from a local artist each year for display in our Community Resource Center. At the end of the one-year exhibition, the credit union will donate the art to one of three charitable groups:
1.) The China Lake Museum Auction
2.) The Maturango Museum Auction
3.) The Rotary Club Dollars 4 Scholars Auction
These groups will then auction the art off to local community members for their home or office. This program allows community artists to be enjoyed by the visitors to the CRC as well as helping our local museums and organizations. Our 2013 ALVA recipient was Susan Neves of Will O' The Wrist Photography. Her works will be available for purchase at these events over the course of the next year.
Participation in the ALVA program is also simple. Each year the credit union will release parameters for the annual ALVA purchase. These parameters reflect the needs of the credit union and provide stipulations on the content of the art which may be purchased. Those artists wishing to bid will submit a proposal which includes some basic information and a price. Each selection is reviewed and one will be selected each year and announced at our Annual Membership Meeting.
