The Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert is proud to announce a special benefit concert at the Historic USO on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 7 pm. Headlining this concert, which benefits the many on-going projects of the HSUMD, is local music fave Alas Tarin. A singer-songwriter from Ridgecrest, Alas picked up a guitar at the age of 18 and began writing her own songs as soon as she could play chords. In a short time, she and a few friends formed the band Red Rockwell and performed in several local venues. Attending OPEN MIC nights at the Historic USO, Alas established herself locally as an accomplished solo musician. She has played multiple shows at Cero Coso Community College, and has opened for other artists including the local band Unconditional Life and renowned bluesman Roy Book Binder. This gifted young musician is currently recording her first EP.
Doors open for this special concert at 6:30 pm to give patrons time to enjoy the Historic USO Snack Bar. The HSUMD invites everyone to be a part of the loving crowd at this very special musical event.
