Seven weeks of lecture and practical experience (no class week of July 4th). Students are required to have access to the textbook "Mountaineering: Freedom of the Hills" - 8th edition. A UIAA certified helmet is needed, but a limited number are available for loan.

Lecture: Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm at Kerr McGee Center (June 24th class at USO building on Ridgecrest Blvd.) Practice: Wednesdays, 5pm until dark, plus a weekend day hike and a weekend overnight hike

Class is limited to 40 students; first come-first served. Must be 14 years of age or older (14 and 15 years need a parent/guardian also taking the class; 16 and 17 years need their parents'/guardians' release/permission) Registration by mail ONLY.
