Supervisor Mick Gleason to Speak at Democratic Club on March 16th City Manager Strand and Parks & Rec Director Patin will also speak re: Park Assessment District on March 16th Please consider the following for IMMEDIATE release – In recognition that City property owners received Park Assessment Ballots last week, we are grateful to City Manager Ron Strand and Parks & Rec Director Jason Patin for agreeing to come and answer questions about this measure. We are pleased to announce that our guest speaker shall be Kern County 1st District Supervisor Mick Gleason; considered by many to be our most popular orator. Mr. Gleason was elected to serve the 1st District of Kern County in November, 2012 and took office in January, 2013. Supervisor Gleason has been elected as Chairman of Board of Supervisors by his peers. Re-elected in 2016, Mick has done an outstanding job of providing excellent leadership on behalf of the Indian Wells Valley facing a plethora of sticky, tough issues head on. As a Captain in the US Navy, Supervisor Gleason’s final assignment was as the Commanding Officer of Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake. Mick graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA in 1999 where he earned his Master’s Degree in Astronautical Engineering. Mick and Robynn have three sons and three grandchildren.
