1945 returns and the fun is about to begin. The much-anticipated 70th Anniversary of the Historic USO Building is coming up in October, and there are many exciting events leading up to the “Big Weekend” October 15-18. The first of these takes place on Friday, August 21, as the Farris Players will be on-stage in the Joe Fox Auditorium emulating a “radio broadcast” that might have been made from a USO Club after World War II. Guests will enjoy a delicious dinner while being entertained from the stage in this unique celebratory event. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with dinner being served beginning at 6:45, and the big “radio” program taking place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with an intermission. Tickets for the dinner and the show are selling for a thrifty $15 per person at the Historic USO Building, open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will raise funds for the Fred Farris Memorial Scholarship and for the Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert. "Ah, ah, ah...don’t touch that dial!”
