Our flagship Park to Park event is fun and challenging and has been enjoyed by many for years now! Please thoroughly read through our description and let us know if you have any questions by posting to our page or contacting us at highsierracyclist@gmail.com. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT EACH PARTICIPANT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ARRANGING TRANSPORTATION BACK TO RC AFTER THE RIDE!!! SPECS: The HSC Park to Park begins in Leroy Jackson Park and ends in Kernville, covering approximately 63 miles with 5300 ft of climbing. We've historically had good weather over the past few years, but all riders should be prepared for a head w-i-n-d in every direction, as well as high temperatures (high 80s to low 90s). CHECK IN: All riders are encouraged to check in at Leroy Jackson Park between the hours of 0630 and 0745 Saturday morning to sign the HSC waiver and contribute to the donation pot if planning on partaking in aid station fuel and pizza. If you believe it will take you more than six hours to reach the park and you are determined to complete the whole ride, get in touch with us and we'll work something out in advance. COST: All riders are encouraged to donate $8 toward aid station food and refreshments as well as end-of-ride pizza from Pizza Barn. All volunteers eat for free, and the event director will happily buy a KRBC adult beverage for anyone covering one of our three critical stations -- Walker Pass, Hanning Flat, and Riverside Park. EASLEY SCAVENGER HUNT: This fun idea is the brainchild of Anna-Maria Easley and aims to distract our participants for whom this distance is extremely daunting. The list can be found at the bottom of our route slip and will consist of easy, entertaining items to search for as you pedal along... PRIZES: Our victors will be recognized for the fastest time, as well as the most creative litter item collected via the Easley Scavenger Hunt, and will be awarded with HSC swag for their much appreciated skill and efforts. STATIONS & ROUTE: Feed stations will be available atop Walker Pass and Hanning Flat, and will have ice cold water, sports drinks, fruit, bars, and other miscellaneous treats to keep you moving toward Kernville. The route is extremely straightforward, but will be enumerated on a route slip that will be available at Leroy Jackson Park during check in. PIZZA IN THE PARK: Mr. Brad Alexander and the Pizza Barn will be providing us with hot, delicious pizza after our long ride. There will be an assortment of choices, including vegetarian, so everyone should be accommodated. Our volunteers will also be arriving with whatever beverages remain from the feed stations. In the past we've had two drops, one shortly after 1115 and the other around noon, so most everyone gets a shot at hot pizza AND more variety. Again, let us know if you have any questions and we'll see you on 14 October for PARK TO PARK!!!
