Hollywood legends Joan Crawford and John Wayne battle the Nazis! A little known gem of a Hollywood wartime propaganda film is coming your way at the Historic USO Building. The Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert continues its latest series “Hollywood Goes to War: the Battlefront and the Home Front” It coordinates with the much-anticipated 70th anniversary celebration of the Historic USO Building. The films in this series, which will screen on flex Wednesdays at 7 p.m., take a look at the personal sacrifices of our brave men and women of the armed forces in the during World War II. In this week’s entry, Crawford is a spoiled high-society Parisian who encounters a fugitive RAF pilot on the run from the Gestapo. The film is full of suspenseful twists and surprising turns and contains much humor and plot development from, of all places, a ladies’ dress shop (no fooling!) The famous Snack Bar opens at 6:30 to offer hungry guests a huge array of taste-tempting treats. Admission is free, but a $2 donation is greatly appreciated. Don’t miss this very special series…and all the exciting events of the Historic USO Building’s 70th anniversary celebration. Call 760-375-8456 for film titles and more information.!
