The Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert will hold its Annual Dinner Meeting on Tuesday, May 19th, at the Historic USO Building at 230 W. Ridgecrest Blvd. $10 dinner tickets are on sale at the HSUMD Gift Shop. Doors will open at 6 PM with a tri-tip or vegetarian dinner (prepared by Board member Chuck Cordell and his Habitat for Humanity crew) being served at 6:30. A brief business meeting that will include an election to the board of directors and a short “State of the Society” report will precede a special historic video presentation. “Death Valley Memories,” one of perennial HSUMD speaker Ted Faye’s first desert documentaries, features an introduction by Ronald Reagan and narration by Eddie Albert. Faye’s video brings Death Valley history to life through the words of “old timers” who remember its wild-west days.
