SPECIAL "PILGRIMAGE" TO MANZANAR PLANNED FOR APR. 25
A unique and interesting Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert Field Trip has been planned for Saturday, April 25. The annual "Pilgrimage" to Manzanar National Historic Site will include special exhibits, talks and other activities based around the traditional return to the camp. The Pilgrimage Ceremony, lasting about two hours, starts at 12 noon. There will be a “Manzanar at Dusk” presentation in Lone Pine in the evening. Bring sturdy shoes, a hat, a camera, layered clothing for varying weather, water, snacks, and lunch, as there will be no food available at the monument. (There are many restaurants in nearby Lone Pine and Independence). Meet at the Historic USO Building, 230 W. Ridgecrest Blvd. at 7:45 a.m. to leave at 8 a.m. for this on-highway trip. Call Jim Kenney at 760-371-2458 for more information.
