This month’s general meeting of the Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Historic USO Building, 230 W. Ridgecrest Blvd. It will feature Lone Pine author and former Inyo County film commissioner Chris Langley, speaking about his project “High & Dry: Dispatches from the Land of Little Rain”. Discussed will be the long-term exploration of the deserts of the American West, the public’s perception of those lands, the people who live there, and decisions being made about the deserts’ future.
