The Boy Scouts of America’s annual “Scouting For Food” food drive will take place on Saturday, February 2nd between the hours of 9am and 12 noon. This effort is a major contributor in re-stocking the Salvation Army’s Food Pantry shelves each year after the very busy Holiday season. Door hanger reminders were delivered to most houses of the Indian Wells Valley on Saturday, January 26th with a request to place non-perishable food items in a bag or container of their choice and set then on the front porch or some other easily accessible and visible spot. Scouts will return on February 2nd to collect the donations between 9am and Noon.
Also on Saturday the 2nd, Cub Scouts will be manning tables at the South Albertsons Supermarket on S. China Lake Blvd., and Stater Brothers supermarket on China lake Blvd., where shoppers can pick up a few extra items and drop them off on their way out from shopping, or simply drop off donations.
Food can also be delivered directly to the Salvation Army Food Pantry on Downs Ave. Scouts will be there to collect on the 2nd, but food donations are always welcome at the Food Pantry throughout the year.
If someone does not receive a door hanger and wants to contribute, or if anyone sets food out and the donation is missed, PLEASE call Ellie at 760-495-2755 or Jerry at 760-382-1673.
