A brand new episode in the popular series of China Lake videos, “Pictures of Us” will be shown at the Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert's monthly general meeting at the Historic USO Building, 230 W. Ridgecrest Blvd. Series creators Mark Pahuta and Leroy Doig will present one final episode, never before shown. “That Was the Way Things Were” looks back at the early years of the China Lake community, and highlights the first official recruiting film made in 1952 at NOTS. Also included is the infamous recruiting film spoof made the following year and excerpts from some 50 oral-history interviews conducted through the years. And…an intriguing visit to China Lake’s Dispensary and Morgue. (Yes, you read that right…morgue!) This monthly meeting is free to the public, and all are welcomed to attend.
