Soak up some outdoor color, indoors. Get an early start to your busy festival weekend with a great classic adventure film. The Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert’s latest Classic Movie Night series, “Glorious Technicolor®,” continues this evening, Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Historic USO Building, 230 W.Film legends Henry Fonda and Claudette Colbert star in director John Ford’s 1939 Revolutionary War epic, filmed at outdoor locations in stunning, three-strip Technicolor. Location shoots were a challenge for the complicated process, due to the large amounts of lighting required and the cumbersome nature of the huge color cameras. But Ford’s skilled direction and the glorious cinematography shows that these film craftsmen were definitely up to the task. Armchair adventurers will want to arrive when the doors open at 6:30 p.m., to fortify themselves with delicious edibles and refreshments from the thrifty Snack Bar. The film rolls at 7 p.m., and admission is a suggested (and greatly-appreciated) donation of just $2. For film titles or more information, call 760-375-8456, or pick up a schedule in the Historic USO Building lobby.
