About Us
Budgetary and specific student issues are governed by the seven-member Kern County Board of Education. Board members are elected to four-year terms by voters of the several geographical regions of the county.
I seek election for this position because of my love for students, public education, my deep
roots and involvement in East Kern, and my appreciation for the Board of Education as a partner in supporting our local school districts. I am a product of Ridgecrest schools, and enjoyed a 35-year career as a teacher, coach, administrator and Superintendent of the Sierra Sands Unified School District. Upon my retirement I served a term with the Kern County Board of Education.
I am passionate about supporting our school districts as they provide unique services to students and families. Education is a unifying concern in our communities, where every sector plays an important role. I value community connections and I will seek
collaborative ways to meet the needs of all students.
I believe that ALL students deserve a safe, nurturing environment that prepares them for
the challenges and opportunities of the workforce. I will support the work of the local school districts rather than force policies on them that are outside of the jurisdiction of the Kern County Board of Education. I will champion partnerships between parents and
schools to provide opportunities for children to thrive in today’s world. Retired Superintendent with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry.
