About Us

The Ridgecrest Branch of the Kern County Library system is the third busiest branch in the county. We are part of the San Joaquin Valley Library System, giving people access to materials from over 100 libraries in 10 jurisdictions (Coalinga-Huron, Fresno County, Kern County, Kings County, Madera County, Mariposa County, Merced County, Porterville Public, Tulare Public, and Tulare County).

We are open 5 days a week (Tue-Thu 11 am-7 pm, Fri-Sat 9 am-5 pm). We offer at no charge: public computer access, wi-fi, mobile device charging areas, early literacy station (kids educational computer), books, music CD, books on CD, newspapers, magazines, games/activities, local resource information, and public work spaces. Items and services with a small fee: DVD rentals ($2 plus tax for 7 days), self-serve copies, printing (black/white and color), and faxing. We offer a variety of events for all ages, including Baby Bounce, Preschool Story Time, Fun Friday, movie/film screenings, Build It: LEGO, crafts, themed events, book discussion group, community puzzle table, bigger shows (magician, puppeteer, animal), Summer Reading Challenge/Lunch at the Library, along with a variety of workshops/speakers.

Almost all of the events are made possible through funds raised by Friends of the Ridgecrest Branch Library. They are an amazing non-profit and exist for the purpose of making our library branch better for OUR community! Donations are accepted.
