About Us

In 1978 the Women’s Center-High Desert was started as a referral agency and organizer of “rap sessions” which dealt with women’s issues. The work done by a handful of dedicated volunteers in the seventies has evolved into an agency of staff and volunteers that provide a variety of services to women and men and their families. There are approximately 2,600 square miles in East Kern County and we know we are making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Our funding sources include federal and state funds as well as local support through the United Way of the Indian Wells Valley, community service organizations, fundraisers, and personal donations.
