Opportunities For Learning (OFL) is a free, public charter high school program in California designed for students who need something different from a traditional campus. OFL serves teens and young adults who may be behind in credits, at risk of dropping out, balancing work or family responsibilities, or who simply do better in a smaller, flexible setting. Hi everyone! My name is Bryan Zelaya, and I am the Enrollment and Outreach Specialist for Opportunities for Learning Charter Schools in Ridgecrest, CA. In my role, I support our school sites by connecting students, families, and community members to the programs and resources that OFL has to offer. Day to day, I collaborate with local partners and community leaders to share information about our school, give presentations, and answer questions from the public. I also work closely with families throughout the registration and enrollment process—helping them complete online forms, gather the appropriate documents, and understand each step needed to enroll in our program. My goal is to make joining Opportunities for Learning as welcoming, clear, and accessible as possible for every student and family I meet.

About Us
Instead of a six-period school day, OFL uses a blended-learning and independent-study model. Students meet with teachers several times a week, work through curriculum at their own pace, and can attend small-group classes, tutoring, and online coursework. The program is year-round with open enrollment, so students can start at many points in the year and build schedules around jobs, health needs, or parenting.
OFL is fully accredited and aligned with California standards, offering a real high school diploma, A–G college-prep courses, career electives, and support for next steps such as college, trade programs, or direct entry into the workforce. Campuses also provide mental health support, special education services, and English-learner support.
Beyond academics, OFL focuses on relationships, second chances, and a sense of belonging. Many sites offer sports, clubs, field trips, and events like prom or college tours. Overall, OFL is a flexible, student-centered charter school option built to help at-promise students re-engage in school, earn their diploma, and plan for life after graduation.
