Outlaws, Lawmen and Patriots of the Cherokee Nation and Indian Territory Class
Prior to Oklahoma Statehood in 1907, Indian Territory was often referred to as an “outlaw’s paradise” because of rampant crime, often committed by non-Indian intruders. Indian lawmen were some of the bravest of the Old West and often served as both tribal and federal officers. This presentation will cover infamous Cherokee outlaws and the courageous lawmen that brought them to justice, as well as discuss individuals who history has often portrayed as outlaws. Date and Time
