You may eventually find yourself in a situation requiring first-aid for a family member, friend, complete stranger, or yourself. Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) Standard Adult, Child, and Infant First Aid / CPR / AED certification is good for two-years. Most injuries and illnesses do not require lifesaving efforts. Saving lives is important, but knowing what to do for less severe conditions may greatly improve the victims long-term recovery. First aid is the immediate care given to an injured or suddenly ill person. First aid does not take the place of proper medical care. It consists only of providing temporary assistance until professional medical personnel arrive, if needed, is obtained or until the chances for medical recovery without medical care is assured. Topics covered include: first aid kits Good Samaritan Law prevention practices recognizing emergencies perform scene size-up deciding to act seeking medical care preventing disease transmission primary and secondary checks gathering information CPR / AED / airway bleeding and wounds shock burns head and spinal injuries chest and abdominal injuries bone, joint, and muscle injuries medical emergencies poisoning bites and stings heat and cold emergencies rescuing and moving victims To ensure we have enough completion cards and books, please RSVP by December 18
